Dance and movement therapy

 

Dance and movement therapy directly uses an instrument that each of us already possesses: our own body. The tension of the muscels, breathing and posture combined with rhythm, form and dynamics of our movements, allow for the expression of our adaptive and communicative behaviours with all their strengths an weaknes. 

This enables the understanding and processing of feelings and relationships. Dance therapy helps to develop a realistic body image and to understand and expand one's own body language. It is particularly suitable for crisis intervention for clients with strong physical changes, e.g. after accidents, cancer etc..

 

In group work, the emphasis is on the sensation of social space, contact and empathy in the relationship.
